Lands End

This is Part Two of the previous post from Newport's Cliff Walk. Rough Point and Lands End are near the southern end of the Cliff Walk. The cliff has been replaced by rocky ledges and the coastline is oriented more out to sea.

AERIAL VIEW

This is a classic New England headland, complete with cobble beaches and large mansions. But it's mainly bedrock (granite, maybe gneiss?) with seawalls protecting sections of the trail. The trail itself wanders along the shore - within reach of even modest storm waves - and carefully isolated from the big estates by walls and high fences.
