Dugort
Achill Island, in western County Mayo, is attached to the rest of Ireland by a modest two-lane bridge. We spent several hours exploring its nooks and crannies, including several really neat, and very different, beaches.
AERIAL VIEW
I was intrigued by a series of small beaches scattered along the north shore of the island, but this one at Dugort really stood out. It repeats the common pattern of flat sandy beach, steep cobble berm, and modest backshore dune system.
