Puget Sound Beaches ... not really just gravel, but sand, broken shell, and occasionally a boulder the size of a large truck.

Spanish Bay
Working my way around the Monterey Peninsula, dodging fog and golf balls, the next significant stop on my field trip was Spanish Bay, a large compound pocket beach (a little more complicated than a simple pocket beach). Like most pocket beaches around here - there was a golf course behind it. At least a golf course still preserves some of the feeling of the original dune landscape.
The beach itself was sandy and flat, but there was a beautiful storm berm of cobbles along its entire length. It would be fun to be out here when these things were getting tossed around! Assuming they're not relict features from a more ancient past.
