I would have enjoyed more time to explore the beaches along Cook Inlet, but the timidity of our car, the patience of my family, and a need to move on to Homer kept us to a few quick stops. Ninilchik is a small town with a small Russian church perched on the hill and a fish and chips place built on piles over the beach. The wooden groins, wood revetment, and shingle beach reminded me of pictures of the British coast.
