Puget Sound Beaches ... not really just gravel, but sand, broken shell, and occasionally a boulder the size of a large truck.

Bellingham
Another Bellingham pocket beach - though this one is a bit more accidental than Marine Park. I think the locals refer to this as Cornwall Beach (south end of Cornwall, where Pine comes down the hill). This is a tiny beach, trapped in a corner where two filled and riprapped shorelines intersect. I've called these beaches opportunistic pocket beaches - they are common on industrial shorelines where historic modifications create headlands, between which small beaches can form from whatever sediment is available. There are some nice examples along Ruston Way in Tacoma. The orientation of these beaches is a great indicator of predominant wave direction. These are often good candidates for enhancement and they are excellent demonstrations of what might be possible on urban waterfronts where pocket beaches are an environmental or public access improvement over riprap and construction debris.
